Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
Case Relief Now is a legal advertising and marketing platform operated by First Intake Media LLC, an Alabama limited liability company. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice. Our site helps connect people who need legal help with independent, licensed attorneys in their area.
This privacy policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it.
2. Information We Collect
When you submit an intake form on our site, we collect:
- Contact information: your name, phone number, and email address (email is optional).
- Location: the county where you need help.
- Legal situation details: the practice area you selected and your answers to intake questions (for example, whether you have a court date, the type of legal matter, or whether an emergency is involved).
- Free-text details: anything you type in the optional description field.
- Preferred contact method: how you want an attorney to reach you.
We also collect automatically:
- IP address (hashed): we store a one-way hash of your IP address for fraud prevention. We do not store your actual IP address.
- User agent string: your browser type and version, used for troubleshooting.
- Page path: which page you submitted the form from.
If you use our Check Submission Status feature, we collect:
- Email address (for lookup only): we create a one-way hash of the email you enter and compare it to existing records. Your email is not stored again — it is used only to locate your submissions and send you a secure, time-limited link.
We do not use cookies for tracking, and we do not use third-party analytics services.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Route your inquiry to one or more independent, licensed attorneys who serve your county and practice area.
- Score your inquiry to determine urgency and whether to route it to one attorney (exclusive) or up to three (shared).
- Notify attorneys that a lead is available so they can decide whether to accept it.
- Deliver your contact information to attorneys who accept your inquiry, so they can contact you.
- Prevent fraud and duplicate submissions.
- Let you check your submission status through a secure, time-limited link sent to your email. The status page shows only non-identifying metadata (practice area, county, and current status) — your name, phone, and email are not displayed.
- Re-send your inquiry if you report that no one has contacted you within 7 days. When you request a re-send, we reclaim the lead from the previous attorney and re-distribute your inquiry to other attorneys in your area.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to routing your inquiry to participating attorneys.
4. Who We Share Your Information With
We share your personal information with the following categories of recipients:
- Participating attorneys: when an attorney accepts your inquiry, they receive your name, phone number, email (if provided), county, and intake answers. Attorneys may pay a marketing fee to receive these inquiries.
- Database hosting provider (Supabase): your data is stored in a hosted PostgreSQL database. Supabase processes data on our behalf under their data processing terms.
- Email service provider: lead notification and delivery emails pass through our SMTP provider.
- Hosting provider: our web host processes HTTP requests, which may include IP addresses and request metadata in server logs.
- Payment processor (Stripe): when an attorney pays a marketing fee for a lead, Stripe processes the payment. If a lead is reclaimed through our re-send process, we initiate a refund through Stripe. Stripe receives only payment identifiers — your personal information is not shared with Stripe.
We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, advertisers, or any party other than the participating attorneys described above.
5. Whether Lead Routing Constitutes a "Sale"
Some state privacy laws define "sale" broadly to include sharing personal data in exchange for monetary consideration. Because participating attorneys pay a marketing fee to receive inquiries, the transfer of your information to an accepting attorney may be considered a "sale" under certain state laws (such as the Colorado Privacy Act, Nevada SB 220, or similar statutes). For this reason, we provide an opt-out right described in Section 8 below.
6. How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your information according to the following schedule:
- Lead records (contact information and intake answers): retained for up to 2 years after a lead is closed, rejected, or held awaiting attorney availability. After this period, personal information is automatically anonymized — your name, phone, email, intake answers, and IP hash are permanently removed. Non-identifying metadata (practice area, county, and status) is kept for aggregate analytics.
- Call transfer records: caller phone numbers are anonymized after 2 years.
- Analytics events: deleted after 1 year.
- Security audit logs: retained for 7 years for compliance purposes, then deleted.
- Payment identifiers: Stripe payment intent IDs associated with lead offers are removed on the same schedule as lead records (2 years).
You may request deletion of your information at any time, regardless of these retention periods (see Section 8). Deletion requests are processed within 45 days.
7. How We Protect Your Information
All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit via HTTPS (TLS). Database connections use TLS. We hash IP addresses before storage so your actual IP is never retained.
Your personal information (name, phone, email, and intake answers) is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption at the application layer before it is stored in our database. This means that even if the database were compromised, your information would remain unreadable without the separate encryption keys. We maintain a key rotation capability so encryption keys can be updated without disrupting service.
For lookups (such as the Check Status feature), we use one-way HMAC-SHA256 hashes of your email and phone number. These hashes allow us to find your records without storing your contact information in a searchable format.
We restrict database access to server-side code using a service role key that is not exposed to browsers. Row-level security policies ensure that database queries are limited to authorized operations. Only attorneys who accept an inquiry receive the associated contact information.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have one or more of the following rights under state privacy laws (including, but not limited to, the Colorado Privacy Act, Utah Consumer Privacy Act, Iowa Consumer Data Protection Act, Nebraska Data Privacy Act, Indiana Consumer Data Protection Act, Tennessee Information Protection Act, and Nevada SB 220):
- Right to Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to Delete: request that we delete your personal information.
- Right to Correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to Data Portability: request a portable copy of your data in a common format.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale: direct us not to share your information with attorneys in exchange for a fee.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: withdraw your consent to the processing of your data at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, submit a request through our privacy rights form or contact us at the address below. We will verify your identity (typically by matching your email address and phone number) before processing your request. We will respond within 45 days, or sooner if required by your state's law.
To submit a privacy request, send an email to privacy@casereliefnow.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and include your name, the email or phone number you used on your intake, and which right you are exercising.
We also provide API endpoints for programmatic privacy requests at /api/privacy/access, /api/privacy/delete, /api/privacy/correct, /api/privacy/portability, /api/privacy/opt-out, and /api/privacy/withdraw-consent.
9. Do Not Sell My Information
If you would like to opt out of having your information shared with attorneys in exchange for a fee, you may do so by contacting us at privacy@casereliefnow.com or by submitting a request to our /api/privacy/opt-out endpoint. If you opt out, we will not route future inquiries from you to attorneys. Existing leads that have already been delivered cannot be recalled from the receiving attorney.
10. Children's Privacy
Our site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through our intake form, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes, we will update the consent terms version recorded with new intake submissions.
