Statute Verification Dataset
Every statute cited on this site, with the result of the most recent time our pipeline retrieved the current text of that provision and compared it with what our page says. We publish the misses as well as the hits. Use it, cite it, check our work.
The numbers
A citation counts as accurate only when the latest check retrieved the provision’s current text and found our page’s claims about it — dollar amounts, deadlines, thresholds, procedure — consistent with that text. Anything else shows no “Verified” date on the site, and the sentence it supported has been softened or had its citation removed under our say-less rule.

Method, in brief
Four times a year the pipeline fetches the current text of every cited provision from its source URL, extracts the passage around the cited section, and asks a reviewing model to compare that text with each specific claim our page makes about it. A citation is marked accurate only when every claim is supported. Amended, ambiguous and unverifiable results are routed to an editorial queue; the result of that queue is softened wording or a removed citation, never a stamp. The full rules are in the Editorial & Citation Policy; the most recent cycle is described in the Q3 2026 citation accuracy report.
Known limits: a verdict is about the claims on our page, not about the law in general; “unverifiable” usually means the source site blocked automated retrieval or the section could not be located, not that the law does not exist; and the dataset covers the 41 states this site publishes guides for.
